WHATEVER YOU ASK FOR IN PRAYER
Including a Fit Body
Mark 11:24-26 (New International Version)
24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."[a]
What is holding you back from receiving what you ask for in prayer? Jesus tells us that “whatever” you ask for in prayer, it will be yours so, what is it that’s holding you back from receiving?
Is it believing that we are worthy of receiving what we ask for in prayer? You are covered by the grace and mercy of God. If you’re anything like me, you absolutely were not a person that was worthy of being a child of God. You and I received our salvation because of God’s mercy. You can never receive salvation by your good works.
Titus 3:4-6 (New International Version)
4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
It seems like some people get all the blessing sometimes doesn’t it? Why not you? Exactly…why not you? In the book of James he says “we have not because we ask not” and whenever Jesus healed someone, he asked what it was that they wanted of him. The people that came to Jesus asked to be healed. That’s your first step…ask. Don’t be afraid to approach God in prayer and ask for the desires of your heart.
Believe that you have received it. Did you notice that Jesus has spoken in the past tense? When we approach God in prayer we go before Him in confidence and belief that it is already done.
When you get clear about what it is that you want, it’s easier to believe that it’s possible for you. Why is it that we believe it’s possible for someone else but not for us? It’s not about you and your power. It’s about the awesome power of God and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Get clear about what you want. Visualize it; speak it as it has already happened. Find pictures to put in your journal, write out a statement and do these things every single day.
I have a co-worker that is moving to Georgia. She explained her dream house in detail to me last week of what she wanted. It was a very unique floor plan. Guess what? She found the house and showed me the pictures of it yesterday. She was very clear on what she wanted and she found it.
Let’s move on to Mark 11:25. There’s a condition for asking God for something in prayer. We must forgive others so that God can forgive us. If you are holding things against others or have sinned against someone, go and forgive them or ask for their forgiveness so your Father in Heaven can also forgive your sins when you ask God to forgive you. Wipe the slate clean. I once heard someone say that when we are angry at others or holding something against others, it’s like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die. The other person has probably long since forgotten but you are still holding on to the bitterness. You are poisoning your body with anger and resentment. Forgive others so that you can release the blessings God has for you.
My subtitle is “Including a Fit Body” and I haven’t mentioned a thing about fitness yet. A lot of us believe we should only pray about world peace, healing for our sisters and brothers or dig us out of this problem that we have gotten ourselves in to. Why do we always wait until we’re in a mess before we ask for God’s help?
Let me ask you this; which would you rather do?
· Lose 20 pounds or 100 pounds?
· Eat healthy or give yourself insulin shots daily?
· Exercise or check your blood sugar, blood pressure, take your medication and whatever else you need to do to get through the day?
I’m hoping that the answer to those questions is pretty obvious. It’s a whole lot easier (and wiser) to be proactive about your health than reactive.
We love to eat don’t we? Eating is one of the harder things to control. Smoking; we know we don’t need cigarettes to live. Drinking alcohol: again, we know that we don’t have to have alcohol to live. But, we do need food to live, right? We just don’t need so much food to live and we need to eat the right kind of food to live.
I read a quote somewhere that I really like. The author said, “I want to die young at a very old age.” In other words, he wants to be healthy for all the years he’s alive. Quality of life is our goal, not quantity of life. Who wants to spend the last 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years of their life in pain or poor health?
· Approach God in prayer and ask for a fit body.
· Get clear and visualize your fit body and believe.
· Receive the answer of a fit body as if it has already happened even if you don’t see it right now. When you believe and receive, you will intuitively start taking action to bring it into reality.
· Forgive others. Before you stand in front of God to be forgiven yourself, you must have forgiven others.
You CAN ask God for a fit body. If you are not fit because of overeating and not taking care of your health, you haven’t been operating in the self-control; one of the fruits of the spirit. Ask God for help in all things and when you ask, believe you have already received it. He’s your loving Father and He wants to help you to be successful in all that you do. He already knows your downfall. Let God be God because with God all things are possible.

Mark 11:25 Some manuscripts sins. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your sins.
